The CMA CGM Brazil, a newly-commissioned mega container ship, docked at the Aqaba port on Tuesday.
The vessel started its service last month and is sailing under the flag of Malta. It boasts a carrying capacity of 15128 TEU and her current draught is reported to be 15.6 meters. Her length overall is 366 meters and her width is 51 meters.
The docking is a proof of the city’s growing status and key location as a preferred gateway to the Arab Levant, said Steven Yoogalingam, Chief Executive Officer of the Aqaba Container Terminal Company (ACT).
He added that the “massive and sustainable” investments the company has injected over the years have started to pay off, and helped to boost the port city’s capacity to welcome mega container and passenger vessels.
