Minister of Interior Salameh Hammad and Education Minister Tayseer Nuaimi Tuesday discussed administrative, technical and security measures being taken for holding this year’s General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) exams.

The ministers held a meeting via videoconference with the participation of field governors and in the attendance of top officials from the two ministries, Public Security directors and Health Ministry officials.

Hammad underscored the role of security bodies and local administrators in supplementing the education ministry’s efforts and providing a safe environment for students to sit the exams.

The interior minister said that the governors were tasked, in coordination with the security authorities and education directors in the governorates and districts, with putting in place a security plan to ensure the integrity and high credibility of the Tawjihi exams.

The education minister noted that his ministry has taken all technical and administrative preparations for the success of the exams, adding that the ministry is keeping pace with the global advancement in the supervision process to create an appropriate environment for students to take their exams according to the plan set for that purpose.

This year’s exam, he pointed out, will be conducted in line with the government measures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, where public safety procedures will be enforced in terms of social distancing, with students wearing gloves and masks and are seated two metres apart, and rooms sterilized before and after each exam.
