The US State Department announced Saturday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit Israel next week to express his support for the new Israeli government, resuming his foreign trips that were halted by the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown

Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said in a statement that Pompeo will discuss US and Israeli efforts to combat the Covid-19 epidemic and regional security issues related to Iran’s clout in the Middle East.

She said that the United States and Israel are together facing threats to their security and prosperity, and that “in difficult times, we stand by our friends and our friends stand by us.”
