Queen Elizabeth II saluted those who died in World War II, on the 75th anniversary of the victory and, seizing this opportunity, said she was proud of the way the British were responding to the Corona pandemic
In a televised message, the British Queen said that those who fought during the war with Nazi Germany should be proud of the way their grandchildren are faced as Covid-19 and the general isolation imposed on them to curb the spread of the disease.
“Today, it may seem difficult, because we cannot celebrate this special anniversary as we want,” she added, noting that the activities of celebrating Victory Day were curtailed due to the ban on gatherings, the cancellation of a march of veterans and the prevention of street celebrations.
“Instead, we remember (the sacrifices of the dead) from inside our homes and from our doorstep. But our streets are not empty. They are full of love and care that we each have for the other,” the Queen said.
“Never give up … never give up. This is the message of Europe’s Eid victory.”
