On the sidelines of the ‘Hope and Dreams’ Sports Festival, President of the World Taekwondo Federation Choue Chung-won on Saturday visited the Azraq Taekwondo Academy in Azraq Syrian refugee camp, located in the northeast of the Kingdom

The Sports Festival, taking place between Feb. 25 to 27, is organized by the World Taekwondo Federation and the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation as a joint initiative on the occasion of the Federation’s 50th anniversary. It brings together 300 young refugee athletes, with the aim of enabling them to practice sports and bring about change in their communities

During the visit, the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation announced the start of baseball training. Next Monday, refugees will compete in the sports of baseball and taekwondo on the sidelines of the ninth El Hassan International Taekwondo Championship

According to a statement by the Jordan Olympic Committee, Choue said he was happy to visit the Azraq Academy, saying: “I am happy to return to the academy as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Federation. It’s great to see these kids playing sports without any complications, and we are always looking forward to booking a place for them in the big competitions
