Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, held talks with his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, on the serious situation in Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.

Safadi urged the international community to move immediately towards stopping the Israeli attacks on the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al Haram Al Sharif, and protect the right of the people of Sheh Jarrah to their homes and to provide protection for the Palestinian people.

Safadi warned of the consequences of what is happening on the security and stability of the region as a whole, expressing appreciation for France’s stance on rejecting the deportation of Palestinians from their homes, adhering to international law, preserving the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem, and rejecting settlements and other illegal steps that violate international law and the rights of Palestinians and push the region towards more escalation and tension.

Safadi and Le Drian discussed international efforts to stop the escalation in Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories, and they agreed to continue coordination and consultations.
